The 4-day camp will last June 6-9, 2016 from 9:00am–4:30pm.
Approximately 16 rising high school
students from the Chattahoochee Valley Area will converge on the Columbus
Government Center, Recorders Court, and the Muscogee County Jail to have a real
world perspective on the ins and outs of the legal and judicial system.
During the intense 4-day camp students will examine court structure, learn about criminal and civil
procedure, compete in a mock trial practice, attend workshops on law school planning,
discuss leadership, ethics, and government, observe open court, tour
the jail, and network with area lawyers and judges. There will be a lunch panel discussion each day,
and the camp will conclude with a mock trial presentation by the campers that is open to
the public.
“Master of My Fate Leadership and Mentoring Program is an organization for every
young dreamer who is aspiring to be a visionary leader one day. Hopefully with this
camp, we will equip young men and women to be future lawyers and judges,” Katonga
Wright, Managing Partner at The Wright Legal Group, LLC, GABWA Vice-President,
Fountain City Bar President, and Founder of Summer Law Programs. “I wish there was a
program likes this when I was in high school. We hear of basketball, football,
cheerleading, and other sports camps, but we are past due for camps for the
business professional careers young people are interested in as well,” Vernessa Clemons, Law
Office Administrator at The Wright Legal Group, LLC and Camp Director for Lawyer Up
2016. They had a great first summer law camp last year, and we’re looking forward to a
wonderful one this year as well!
