40 Girls and Some Shoes, is a non-profit organization in Atlanta, GA. The organization’s goal is to literally aid women, children and men who are taking that all important first step into a new life by providing them with new and gently worn shoes.
This past Saturday, the organization hosted an exclusive charity sip and shop, and Be Positive Media was invited to attend by the CEO/Founder, philanthropist Sylvia Webb, along with some of Atlanta biggest influencers and tastemakers at the prestigious ATTOM, and luxury lifestyle suite in the Shops Buckhead owned by Zola Dias.
The beautiful and talented Angela Robinson, who plays Veronica Harrington on Tyler Perry’s, “The Haves and the Have Nots”, hosted the event, and the atmosphere was perfect for the Father’s Day weekend as they celebrated men!
To set the tone for the day, Angela warmly greeted the audience and gave a beautiful tribute to her own father who not only played an intricate role in her success, but to several in her neighborhood.
Five influential gentlemen were invited to have an intimate and candid discussion on the role of men, fatherhood, community and what giving back means to them in today’s society
The Panel included:
Ted Johnson, Attorney and Author and Play Writer, Tyrone Poole ,2x NFL Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots, Author Dr. John Lipman, MD, Warren A. Huntley, CEO/Founder of Warren Huntley Presents, Inc, and Chuck Kinnebrew, Trailblazer UGA Football player amongst the first 5 to integrate the team.
It was indeed a beautiful day to gather, network, and celebrate the roles of fathers in our lives.
When asked about 40 Girls and Some Shoes, Sylvia Webb explains that, “40 girls is a non-profit organization formed on a very basic principle: to be an agent for transformative change in the lives of those who are experiencing homelessness. Our primary emphasis is on serving those who may need a jump start in life, perhaps one of life’s basic necessities …a pair of SHOES!
In addition to organizing our own shoe drives and fundraisers, we strive to make our mark by partnering with other beacons throughout the United States (shelters, ministries and government agencies) in their longstanding efforts to end homelessness.

About Our Organization
40 Girls and Some Shoes is a Georgia based charity outreach program servicing the homeless and impoverished citizens of the City of Atlanta and its surrounding communities.
Founded by Sylvia Webb, the organization’s primary mission is the collection and distribution of new and gently worn shoes for men, women and children, provided by its many generous supporters. Through a vast network of partnerships and associations formed in the past 3 years, 40 Girls and Some Shoes has provided 10,000 pairs of free shoes to these underserved groups since its inception. This has been accomplished through a number of shoe drives and an annual charity event which brings together leaders of the city, other organizations aimed at serving the homeless community, and individuals who want to do their part to support this great cause. Additionally, recognizing the impact of the economic downturn in our country, 40 Girls and Some Shoes stepped up its efforts to also meet the demands of the unemployed and underemployed, some of whom are at risk of becoming homeless themselves.
Some of our community involvement includes various church and outreach organization donations, a shoe distribution in Renaissance Park and in Vine City Community, where those in need received free shoes after making their own personal shoe selections, and donations made to the victims of the 2009 flooding in Austell and Marietta, Georgia. We are only able to continue to meet the needs of those we serve through the continued backing of those who believe we can eradicate this epidemic.
40 Girls and Some Shoes accepts donations from retailers and individuals and is always looking to expand our existing network. Anyone can make a difference . We are an IRS recognized 501(c)(3), making donors eligible for tax advantages.
Shoes do not educate, nor do they guarantee a home or employment, but they can provide an increase in esteem and protect the “soles” of those looking to take what may be that first all important step in getting to the other side of their lives.
