Friends, family and volunteers all gathered together with not for profit organization Baby Fetish on Sunday Oct 11, 2015 at the Columbus Public Library for their Fall 2015 Quarterly Giveaway. Over 200 women, children and caregivers received new and gently used clothes, toys, books, and care packages, etc.
Every quarter has its own theme for the children to enjoy themselves while attending. This quarter was carnival theme. There were clowns, face painting, photography, cotton candy, hot dogs, popcorn, etc and the children had a blast!
Baby Fetish began through the need observed by philantrophist Denise Thomas. Denise said the children and mothers in Columbus deserved a helping hand without the fear of judgement or questioning. Since November 2012, Denise has served over 2000 infants, children and mothers with their care needs. She has also donated to local shelters, schools, adoption agencies and even individuals who reach out to her privately.
Ms. Thomas spends the off time between the events collecting donations, thrifting, and even pulling from her own possessions. Once collected, she cleans the items, store them and what is not donated to shelters and other non-profits is redistributed to her fellow mothers and caregivers.
What began as just a project to assist infants and toddlers has blossomed into a service for people all ages in several counties in Georgia. Denise’s goal is to become a fully acknowledged 501c3 organization to expand her range of families to help. Her motto is simply, “Everyone is someone’s baby”.
