The opening festivities were hosted at the Landmark Theatre and included a special screening of the movie “CONFLICT OF INTEREST” (Directed by 2015 recipient of The Peachtree Village International Film Festival HUMANITARIAN OF ARTS OF AWARD recipient Tommy Ford), a Q&A panel with select movie cast members (Tommy Ford, Rodney Perry, Dorien Wilson, Stephen Micko, Jazsmin Lewis, Carl Payne, Mark Christopher Lawrence.), and an After Party with the Cast of Conflict of Interest & Celebrating The Birthday of actor/producer/director Tommy Ford, Poetry Legend Hank Stewart and Comedian/Actor Rodney Perry at the Kapture Lounge.
The night left me speechless! The movie was amazingly well written and presented so many topics that need to be addressed in our communities (family secrets, adoptions, relationships, etc). I think I experienced every emotion possible while watching and was even more touched to learn that the cast is touring to spend quality time with foster children and underserved communities to further spread the message of love expressed in Conflict of Interest. As Tommy Ford said when addressing the attendees, “We are healers”. The cast is definitely using their gifts and talents to empower and heal, and that is totally admirable.
There were also special performances by gospel powerhouse Micah Stampley, live music by the band Star Quality, and spoken word legend Hank Stewart.
This was just DAY ONE of the festival, so I’m very excited to see what the remainder of the week has in store! For more information on the Peachtree International Film Festival and the activities available for you to attend, visit online at www.pviff.com .
