Tom Joyner, host of the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show®, along with Allstate Insurance Company, celebrated family fun and excitement at the 2015 Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion®. Labor Day weekend, September 3rd – September 7th, families from all over the country joined Joyner and his celebrity friends for a weekend filled with stellar concerts, interaction with celebrities and leaders, enlightening seminars, and endless activities for people of all ages inside the free expo which is open to the public. Guests can also enjoyed passes to Walt Disney World theme parks. The event was held at the gorgeous Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Allstate Insurance Company teamed up with basketball legend and philanthropist, Dominique Wilkins, who will made an appearance at the 2015 Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion; along with Allstate’s Champions for Good who shared their inspiring stories at the event and encourage others to give back and become Champions for Good in their own communities.
This year the family event featured performances from Regina Belle, Christopher Williams, Joshua Ledet, Johnny Gill, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Teddy Riley and Friends (Big Bub, Kool Moe Dee, Wrecks n Effects, Dave Hollister and BS2), Yolanda Adams, and Kirk Franklin; plus a huge “fam” fest with the cast of Black-ish, a Good Times reunion, and a special appearance from the cast of Living Single.
“The Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion creates an atmosphere of one true family that celebrates people and what we love,” says Joyner, whose radio show airs in markets all over the country with an audience of more than eight million listeners (and is featured on WKJZ 92.7FM here in Columbus, GA). “When we first created this event, we wanted families to experience a truly spectacular vacation that was unique, all-inclusive, affordable and more than anything…entertaining. And not only have we done that, but we’ve done it for ten years strong. We have created a new Black Family tradition that has come to represent entertainment, exclusivity and fun – and I hope we continue creating lifetime memories for families for another ten years and more.”
The TJMS Family Reunion was indeed an experience! There were TONS of vendors who all proved to be empowered business owners with awesome products and services from music to natural hair and body products, homeschooling materials, self-defense items and fraternity/sorority themed dominoes and books (even graphic novels by Living Single’s Erika Alexander!) The networking was incredible and I even had the opportunity to go deeper in my family tree research courtesy of Ancestry.com!
Keeping consistent with the family theme, there were activities for the children including arts, crafts, separate concerts for the teens, and College recruitment and orientation workshops for the older children. There was a family dinner served on Friday night and plenty of various other activities to keep the children busy.
Congratulations to Tom Joyner and the staff of TJMS for 10 years of providing an all inclusive weekend of family bonding, networking, fun, education and empowerment! Well done, and I can’t wait until next year!
